Our Partner: Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center

August 17, 2012

“Founded in 1973, the Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center, a non-profit organization, has been a visible presence and resource for the victims of sexual assault and their families during a particularly traumatic time in their lives.  Over the years, the Center’s service areas, program staff, and volunteer base have expanded to better meet the needs of the communities we serve throughout Western Riverside County . . .” (-RARCC website)

We were so happy to be able to partner with the Riverside Area Rape Crisis Center for our fall HOT Product Event.  It means so much to to help them in the great things they are doing for so many.

The center has 72 volunteers and 9 staff members, and they participate in everything from phone counseling on their hot line, hospital visits with the victims, self defense classes, to counseling and therapy for victims and family for months and years.  They help these victims work through trust issues, and the many psychological effects which occur after sexual assault.

As one of their therapists explained, they seek to be an advocate for victims. This can be especially crucial because most sexual assault occurs with acquaintances, friends, or intimate partners. This can make it really difficult to reach out for help, and oftentimes the RARCC volunteers can help the victims decide what to do, while helping them move forward in their healing process.

As their therapist explained, “Everyday we see healing.”

We at Mom’s Best feel that this cause is so important. Though most of the world is good, tragic and sad things still happen. We as women must care. We must reach out to help others, and we most be involved in our community to prevent sexual assault and help make others aware of it.

We must help victims of this violence feel safe, feel loved, and know that they can heal.

In support of this amazing rape crisis center, we will be donating over half of the products from the event to their center. Whatever products are not given directly to the victims will be used in their annual auction, which helps them raise the funds they need to run all of their programs.

We are so grateful to be able to give back, and as part of this effort, with every 100 votes or comments on our giveaway, we will donate an emergency kit to the center. So spread the word and come help us make a difference!
